Screenwriting 101 |
|||
|
The purpose of the film is to tell a story. And We are responsible to tell Our stories because no one else can, quite the way we do. No one sees what We see, the way We see it.. This is Our responsibility. Of all the producing and directing roles to be played in the making of a movie, it is the first storyteller's steps that begin the journey for all that are to follow. Simple does not mean easy. You've gotten your first draft down on paper. Will that be enough to sell your script to Hollywood? No--simple really does not mean easy. Before you send that script off to whomever you were sending it to, consider this: once a studio has read and done coverage on your script and rejected it (for whatever reason)-your script is dead forever at that studio. Why might a studio reader reject your great script? Wrong genre, wrong audience, wrong budget, wrong screenplay format, or bad cold. Why might a studio reader NOT reject your great script? Great writing, great idea, unique story with complete plot execution, castable characters, attached funding, budgetable implementation or attached known talent. Increase your odds by networking and investigating the types of projects the studios are interested in purchasing. Increase your odds by joining workshops to rehearse your marketing techniques. Increase you odds by getting an agent to represent your work. |
